The First Draft Isn’t Written…

It’s Told.

Welcome to Novalock Publishing! We're here to get your ideas in the hands of avid readers.

We’re just starting out but we’ve got big plans for the future!

I KNOW the pictures are the stock, preset ones and don’t make a ton of sense yet. I’m working on it, I promise.

I’m a first-time business-owner, long-time writer. I’m looking to assemble a team of editors and designers and other collaborators. I’m also looking for small bookstores that would want to be a part of a larger marketing campaign. You can reach us via the “Contact Us” link at the bottom of every page.

Q: What makes us special?

A: The Query Conversation

Novalock Publishing believes that there are tremendous stories with passionate storytellers that just can’t find the written words to tell them.

Typically, in the world of publishing, a prospective author must engage in writing a query letter. An author has to impress a publishing house in just ONE letter, enough to convince them to READ their work. Many MANY great books get rejected because of a bad letter. We argue that those stories shouldn’t go unpublished.

Novalock offers a Query Conversation, a short, sit-down conversation about an author’s story idea. Creative people love to talk about their work, and Novalock loves to listen. Through the passion and live questioning of the idea, the story being pitched can blossom in real-time.

FAQs

  • We have the first 6 books planned out. The title hasn’t been determined yet. Click HERE for more detailed descriptions.

  • 2025 is our first year in business, but we’ve been thinking about doing something like this for over a decade.

  • Currently, we’ll be releasing our first 3 titles of a 6 title series, at a rate of one title per year. This will generate the small bookstore networks, online marketing following, and social credibility needed to welcome other writers.

  • In order to publish the first book, I’ve estimated it to cost $0.08 per word for developmental editing, line and copy editing at $0.05 per word, EACH. Professional graphic design cover art at $900 flat. Professional formatting for paperback at $900 flat. Ebook formatting at $450 flat. For a book that’s about 92,000 words? That comes out to a little under $19k.
